This program will allow 10 student-teacher pairs to be trained to do research about Environmental Nanotechnology in one of the laboratories of the University of Puerto Rico, R\u00edo Piedras.<\/p>\n<p>During the summer, participants will elaborate a research proposal to continue it during the semester and another one for an educational activity to be made in their school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Workshops will be given on proposal writing, effective science communication, data analysis and instrumentation in the area of \u200b\u200benvironmental nanotechnology.<\/li>\n<li>Participants will have access to the center&#8217;s research facilities and field studies in the Corredor del Yaguazo.<\/li>\n<li>Students and teachers who successfully complete the camp will receive a stipend and all the necessary materials to carry out their research and education projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply in student-teacher pairs.<\/li>\n<li>Be a high school student or teacher.<\/li>\n<li>Be available to attend the summer camp from May, 27 to June, 27 2019.<\/li>\n<li>Complete 85 hours in lab research.<\/li>\n<li>Student: submit an essay that expresses your interest in researching Environmental Nanotechnology.<\/li>\n<li>Teacher: submit an essay on how this summer camp can contribute to your professional development.<\/li>\n<li>To continue the research project during the semester and to implement an educational activity in your school.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the application form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The application must be sent to: education.ciren@upr.edu<\/p>\n<p>For more information: 787-764-0000 x. 87994 or 88577<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cire2n.upr.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/APLICACION-NANOENVI-SUMMER-CAMP.pdf\">APLICACION-NANOENVI-SUMMER-CAMP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>#NSFfunded #NSFCrest<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to promote excellence in science education for high schools, CIRE2N will sponsor a five week summer research program, from june 10 to July 3, 2019; created specifically for teachers and high school students.
